SUSTAINABILITY

From start to finish, we implement eco-friendly practices to reduce the environmental footprint of our events while also positively promoting diversity, inclusion and social good.

Our mission is to bring your event's spotlight moments
to center stage while making eco-friendly decisions that reflect our commitment to sustainability.

At En Pointe Events, we are passionate about helping our clients express their identity through memorable events.
We believe it is our responsibility to propose thoughtful strategies that not only enhance social impact but also reduce waste.
Our commitment extends to inspiring our staff, suppliers, clients, and the broader community to engage with and act on sustainability issues, aiming to minimise our environmental footprint.

Our purpose is to outline En Pointe Events' commitment to integrating sustainability into all aspects of our event planning, management, and execution processes. We recognise the impact that events and activations can have on the environment and society, and we are dedicated to reducing our footprint while creating meaningful, positive experiences.

This policy applies to all stages of event planning and execution, including the En Pointe office, transportation, waste management, energy use, and communication.

KEY AREAS OF FOCUS INCLUDE:

EVENT DESIGN
• Hire of equipment that isn’t single use.
• Repurpose or retrofit props and styling as much as possible
• Utilise potted plants for styling that keeps on giving.
• Use digital screens and technology to communicate to guests and minimise print and single use signage.
• Encourage community activities that engage guests in positive ways – for example, Biofilta veggie patches, education around sustainably sourced food, pedal energy DIY smoothies, macramé from old clothing etc.
• Considerate gifts that support local initiatives and sustainability practices.
• Design event elements like signage, backdrops, and furniture using materials that can be easily reused for future events.
• Modular structures that can be easily reconfigured and adapted to different events
• Sustainable sourcing, use of materials that are sustainably sourced.
• Zero-waste goals, always aiming for a zero-waste event by implementing comprehensive recycling, composting, and waste reduction strategies.

FLORAL DESIGN
Partnering with florists who practice sustainability as it aligns with our commitment to creating beautiful events while minimising our environmental impact. Here are some of the best floral sustainability practices for events that can help reduce environmental impact while still creating beautiful and memorable experiences:

• Source Locally and Seasonally, choosing flowers that are grown locally and are in season. This reduces the carbon footprint associated with transportation and supports local farmers who use sustainable growing practices.
• Where possible, select flowers from growers who use organic farming methods, avoiding harmful pesticides and chemicals.
• Use sustainable floral foam alternatives, traditional floral foam is non-biodegradable and harmful to the environment. Instead, use alternatives like chicken wire, reusable floral cages, or biodegradable foam to create arrangements.
• Minimise waste with repurposed arrangements: floral arrangements are donated after the event, always offered to the client, staff members or taken to nursing homes, or other community spaces. This extends the life of the flowers and reduces waste.
• Floral arrangements that are cannot be repurposed or donated after the event are to be composted. This practice ensures that the flowers return to the earth and contribute to the soil’s health, rather than ending up in a landfill.
• Incorporating foliage and non-floral elements, use of greenery, branches, and other natural elements that are more sustainable and long-lasting.
• Avoid single-use plastics, eliminate the use of single-use plastic wraps, ribbons, and containers. Instead, use reusable or biodegradable materials for packaging and displays.
• Where suitable, opt for flowers that naturally last longer to reduce the need for replacements and decrease overall waste. Hardy flowers and plants that can survive for days to weeks are excellent choices for sustainable events.

BALLOONS AT EVENTS
En Pointe Events promotes the responsible use and disposal of balloons without compromising the environment.
• Use latex balloons, a natural, non-plastic product that is biodegradable and breaks down within six months.
• Our balloon manufacturer sources their latex from sustainable Rainforest Alliance Certified and Forest Stewardship Council Plantations. This contributes to building healthy forests, thriving communities and fights climate change.
• All balloons are air filled rather than helium meaning they will not fly away and end up polluting our oceans and endangering marine life.
• En Pointe disposes of all our soft plastics in REDcycle Bins to be reused to produce a huge range of recycled plastic products.
•The use of balloons at our events generates a low carbon footprint as no additional transport is required. Installations will either be packed with the rest of our event equipment or be made on site.

TRANSPORTATION
• Carbon Offsetting, donating monthly to Greenfleet and carbon offset programs to neutralise the environmental impact.
• Encourage attendees to use public transportation, carpool, or bike to the event.
• Provide shuttle services or organise group transportation to reduce individual car use.

COMMUNICATE & EVALUATE
• Offer attendees the opportunity to provide feedback electronically.
• Communicate the initiatives that are taking place at your events.
• Measure the success of initiatives. Continually learn, improve and adjust.
• Commit to the continual improvement of environmental principles within our organisation as a priority.

En Pointe Events is committed to regularly updating our practices to reflect the latest sustainability innovations, industry standards and simply doing what is the right thing to do.

sourced and seasonal ingredients.
• Engage Social enterprises where possible
• No plastic straws.
• Plant-based options to reduce the environmental impact associated with food production.
• Celebrate a zero-waste food philosophy, accurately estimate attendance to minimise food waste.
• Donate surplus food to local charities or food banks to ensure it does not go to waste.
